אופי פרימיטיבי

הרבה פעמים בענף הכלבנות עולות לאויר צמד המילים "אופי פרימיטיבי" וכאשר שואלים על פירושם, לאיש אין תשובה ברורה או הגדרה תואמת ומדוייקת.

כלבים אשר נכללים תחת הגדרה זו, בדרך כלל יציגו מספר התנהגויות אשר מאפיינות יותר כלבי בר או זאבים, מאשר כלב בית מודרני.
כלב בעל אופי פרימיטיבי לרוב יהיה פחות פתוח ללמוד ולסגל הרגלים חדשים בבגרותו.
כלבים אלו לרוב יהיו עצמאיים יותר ופחות יתרפסו על הבעלים.
נקבות יתיחמו לעיתים רחוקות יותר ובגזעים מסויימים הייחום יכול להגיע גם פעם בשנה.
כלבים אלה ידועים בכושר החיקויי שלהם והלמידה מן הזולת.

גם מבחינה חיצונית הדבר יכול לבוא לידי ביטוי, לא תמיד אבל לרוב.

אם תגדלו גזע כלבים בעל אופי פרימיטיבי אתם תהיו חייבים לעקוב אחר הכללים הבאים –

1. חשיפה מוקדמת – זה הדגש מספר אחד !
גזעים אלה לא מקבלים בבגרותם הרגלים חדשים בקלות, יהיה קשה מאוד לשנות להם הרגלים רעים ולשכנע אותם לקבל זרים.

2. בררנות – כלבים פרימיטיבים לרוב יהיו מאוד בררנים לגבי מזונם, לא תמיד, אבל לרוב.
תזונה טבעית לכלבים ברוב המקרים תעשה את השינויי.

3. רגש – מי שגידל כנעני, או אקיטה לצורך הדוגמא, יכול להשבע שהכלב יכול לקרוא אתה מחשבותיו.
כלבים הנכללים בקטגוריה המדוברת לרוב יהיו מאוד רגישים למצבי הרוח השונים של בעליהם, לכן חשוב להקרין אנרגיה שלווה ואסרטיבית בכל שעות היממה.

Primitive nature.

A lot of times in the dog world, you encounter with this pair of word "primitive nature". And when you ask for the meaning, no one has the precise definition.
Dogs who are under this definition will usually display several behaviours which are more typical to a wolf or a wild dog, and not the modern domesticated dog.
A dog with a primitive nature, is less likely to to learn and adopt new behaviours as a full grown item.
These dogs are more self-sufficient and less depended on their owners.
The females will be in estrus with a larger gap, and even only once a year.
Primitive natured dogs are known for their imitation skills, and are very pron to learn from each other.

The primitive nature of a dog can also be expressed on their external look. Not always, but generally.
The Atlas bone (the bone the stands out from their neck) will be more boldgy.
Some breeds will even shed their coat only twice a year, and their bodys will adapt faster to different foods.
They can also be more picky when it comes to the food they eat.

So, the main question is asked: what is better? A modern dog, or a primitive nature dog?

The answer depends on your own prospective.
If you choose to raise a primitive natured dog, you will have to follow the following guidelines –

1. Early socialization – this is the number one emphasis!
These breeds don't react well to changes easly.
It will be very hard to convince them to change bad habits or accept strangers.

2. Picky – primitive natured dogs are very picky when it comes to their food.
Natural feeding will must Likely to have a good effect on them.

3.emotion – those of you who ever had a Cannan Shepherd or an Akita, can swear that the dog can read their minds.
These kind of breeds are very sensitive to mod changes in their owners.
That is why it is very important to project calm – assertive energy at all times.

4. Children – do to their nature, they are more wolf or wild dog in their character, they will keep a strict pack hierarchy more then the modern dog breeds.
It is important to expose breeds like this to children as explained on the first paragraph, and to teach the children to respect the dogs that look at them as Cubs.
Usually, if there is a negative encounter between an dog and a child it can only end in a draw. Like a mother does to Cubs, only that children are much more vulnerable then dog puppies.

Not every ancient dog breed is considered a primitive natured breed!
Take the cane corso as an example – it is a very ancient dog breed, but it isn't a primitive natured breed.

Here is a list of some primitive natured breeds:
Cannan Shepherd, basenji, Akita inu, dingo (which exhibits all the signs), sight hounds, pharaoh dog, korean jindo, Thai Ridgeback, Asian Shepherd (mainly primitive types), and more.
